Oil pulling is one of the oldest Ayurvedic traditions
In fact, it is mentioned already in the Charaka Samhitā, the oldest known Sanskrit text on traditional Indian medicine, published approximately 2,000 years ago. The ancient text recommends oil pulling to relieve the symptoms of up to thirty different diseases. A Russian scientist named F. Karach, PhD introduced the method to the West in the nineties, and since then it has been valued as a way to harmonize oral health in a natural, yet effective way.
Squishing oil through the teeth for at least twenty minutes can remove bad bacteria from the gums, reduce plaque and prevent cavities. A German study conducted in 2007 showed a significant reduction in the amount of bacteria present in the mouth by up to 30% after 45 days of application.
Oil pulling can also reduce bad breath, as it draws toxins and acids from the oral cavity. Here’s is the morning ritual in 3 steps
Do this every morning, directly after getting up and before you drink or eat anything.
🥄 Step #1
Clean your tongue with an Ayvrvedic tongue cleaner or a tablespoon.
If you use a tablespoon, turn it over and scrape your tongue from the back of your throat all the way to the front, to the tip of your tongue. Do this three times to remove the coating.

Take 1 spoon of organic coconut oil.

Squish it around your mouth, pulling it through your teeth for 20 minutes.
Spit the content into a kleenex or paper towel and put in the garbage.
