As we are headed into winter, long evenings at home often evoke a longing for a comforting, hot beverage. In colder weather, a hot beverage provides an immediate sensation of warmth and comfort helping to combat the chill and create a cozy atmosphere. The feel of holding a warm mug and sipping a hot drink can be incredibly soothing for the spirit.

With the following two recipes, we venture into the land of spices and alluring fragrances. Both creations feature star anise, which we know to be a typical ingredient of a Christmas bakery. However, there’s much more to the star-shaped spice than cookies and mulled wine.

Star anise, with its alluring fragrance and distinctive licorice-like taste, brings a delightful twist to these two ROOTines.
